History[edit]

The company was founded in Freiburg in 1946 by Paul Pietsch, Ernst Troeltsch and Josef Hummel. Under the name "Motorsport GmbH" the company was supposed to finance the motor racing of the founders. The first magazine in this publishing house was "Das Auto", the predecessor of today's auto motor und sport. In 1949, the Motorsport GmbH was renamed "Motor-Presse Verlag", a year later they moved to Stuttgart. Almost all magazines of Motor Presse Stuttgart have come to the publisher through acquisitions.
