Abdellatif Benchekroun began his academic journey in 1956 in the PCB (Physics Chemistry Biology) program at the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat.
At the end of his first year, in the absence of a medical school in Morocco, he enrolled in Nancy where he completed his first two years of medical studies.
He continued his studies in Paris for two years and then joined the medical school in Casablanca where he completed two years of internship.
In anticipation of the upcoming opening of the Faculty of Medicine in Rabat (end of 1962), he completed a 6-month "anatomy prosector internship" in Bordeaux in 1962.
He then joined the "Avicenne's University Health Centre" as an "intern" and "anatomy prosector".
He defended his doctoral thesis in medicine on October 4, 1964 in Paris on the topic of "choledochoduodenostomy".
Following the defense of his thesis, he secured a position as a "surgical assistant" in the surgery and urology departments at Avicenne Hospital.
Afterward, he worked as a "resident physician" at the "Hôpitaux de Paris" in Professor Couvelaire's "service" at Necker Hospital during the period of 1966-1967.
He then passed the "aggregation competition" in Paris, which he obtained in December 1970, becoming an "Associate Professor" at the "University Hospital Centre" of France.
In January 1971, he became a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Rabat.
In 1972, he succeeded Dr. Franquet as the "head of the urology department" at Avicenne Hospital.
In January 1975, he became a "full Professor" in urology.
He led the "urology department" at Avicenne until his retirement in 2005.
Throughout this period, the "urology department team" "innovated several surgical techniques", which were presented at an international level and documented through numerous publications.
These inventions, publications, associated honors, and international contributions (conferences, workshops) will be detailed in dedicated sections.
Parallel to his academic and "surgical" activities, Professor Benchekroun played a significant role in representing "medical structures":
He served as the President of the "Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences1" from 1976 to 1978 and as the President of the "Union of Arab Doctors" from 1977 to 1979.
In 1978, he became the Founding President of the "Moroccan Society of Urology", where he served as president for 14 years.
