'Martin Davis was a businessman best known for his tenure Chief Executive Officer of of Gulf + Western, later Paramount Communications.

Early Life and Career

The son of Polish emigrants, Davis grew up in the Bronx, where his father worked as a real estate broker (fortune).

Later Career and Paramount

Personal Life

Davis was married twice, with two sons, Michael and Patrick. Michael, the elder son, died of heart failure at the age of 32 on Christmas Day 1986 (Vanity Fair). Davis was a prominent fundraiser for National Multiple Sclerosis Society through his involvement with their annual Dinner of Champions gala (fortune).
