Stu Brumbaugh is an American actor, screenwriter and director. Stu Brumbaugh was born in Quincy, Illinois on August 11th 1974. His father; a hydraulics mechanic, eventually moved Stu, his younger sister, as well as his Mother to a small city in central Montana called Great Falls in 1978. Stu Brumbaugh attended Charles M. Russell High School and graduated in 1993. While living in Great Falls, Stu had the opportunity to frequent the film set Holy Matrimony Directed by Leonard Nimoy where he immediately caught the "film bug". Soon after graduating from high school; Stu made the pilgrimage to Los Angeles, California where he attended Golden West College and studied acting. It wasn't long before Stu realized that he had a passion for the entire film making process and begin honing his craft as an actor and as a writer. After making and starring in several short films, commercials and theatre productions, Stu began moving into larger projects. His first feature on camera role was in the film Edie & Pen starring Jennifer Tilly, Scott Glenn, and Stockard Channing. Stu eventually moved onto writing and wrote several award winning short films and commercials that lead to small career as a copywriter for the ad agency Rubin Postaer and Associates located in Santa Monica California. After a small time with the ad agency and small bit roles on television shows and films, Stu decided it was time to put together his own projects and started the film company Yellow Wood Films. Stu's first feature, "Iron Ridge" is a film about a real life encounter he had experienced with a grizzly bear while he was living in Montana. The film, "Iron Ridge" was filmed entirely on location in Montana in 2006 and was the first film to be 100% Montana made from financing to actors and crew. The film, was written, directed, produced by Stu Brumbaugh and included a trained 1000 pound grizzly bear named "Brutus" and his trainer Casey Anderson, both currently stars of the National Geographic show Expedition Wild. Stu's follow up feature film "The Vessel" was a low budget horror filmed in 2008 in his home town of Great Falls, Montana in the retired Cascade County jail. "The Vessel", a shoestring budget film was shot in three weeks and included a cast of local actors as well as crew. Stu Brumbaugh currently lives in Los Angeles California with his wife Rebecca Brumbaugh and their son Callan Brumbaugh. Stu Brumbaugh is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America.
