The Clayton County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is a law enforcement agency that serves Clayton County, Georgia, United States. It is headquartered in Jonesboro, Georgia, the county seat of Clayton County.[2]

The sheriff's department has aroused national attention due to the practices of former Sheriff Victor Hill. [Describe what he did] In 2021, he was federally indicted on 4 counts, which was later increased to 7, of civil rights violations for strapping several people, including one 17-year-old, in restraint chairs in Clayton County Jail without legal justification.[3][4] In July of that year, he was suspended from his position by Georgia governor Brian Kemp.[5] In October 2022, Hill was found guilty of 6 out of the 7 counts of violating the civil rights of incarcerated people, and was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison in March 2023.[6][7]

The current sheriff is Levon Allen since December 22, 2022.[8]
