==Welcome!==

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that you recently contributed to a Korean music-related article. I would like to give you a few tips that I've found to help make great articles on Wikipedia. I really recommend you read them all. :)

  1. Instead of giving the names of song and albums in Hangul (Korean alphabet), consider using the romanized form of that name, and the Hangul name can be included in parentheses. This really helps out readers on this Wiki that don't speak Korean or can't read Hangul.
  • So instead of, for example, writing that "2NE1 released the single 날 따라 해봐요 in February", you should write "2NE1 released the single "Nal Ddarahaebwayo" (날 따라 해봐요) in February".
  1. All Korean (Hangul) text should be wrapped in a {{lang|ko|}} template. This is needed because Wikipedia tells readers' computers that all of the text on Wikipedia is in English, so when non-English text is displayed, many computers show the text incorrectly. But if we use {{lang|ko|}}, it tells the computer that that text is Korean, so it is displayed correctly!
  • So for example, instead of typing in the edit box "'''Rainbow''' (레인보우) is a seven-member [[South Korean]] girl group", you should write "'''Rainbow''' ({{lang|ko|레인보우}}) is a seven-member [[South Korean]] girl group".
  1. If there is an official English name for a band, song, or album, use that first, then you can include the Korean version. For more information on this, see WP:EN.
  • So instead of, for example, writing "Reception for the song song "Geojitmal" was fairly positive" or "Reception for the song song "{{lang|ko|거짓말}}" was fairly positive", you should write "Reception for the song song "Lies" ({{lang|ko|거짓말}}, ''Geojitmal'') was fairly positive".
  1. We love sources! Wikipedia is all about verifiability, so for almost anything you add to an article, such as positions of members in a band, a new song being released, an award given to an artist, the birthdays of band members, the ranking of an album on music charts, how a band name is pronounced, or almost anything else, it would be awesome if you could add a source to it. The best articles on Wikipedia, including Shinee and Big Bang (that have been awarded the rank of "good article"), have sources for almost every sentence.
  • If you don't know how to add a source, don't worry, it's really easy. All you have to do is—right after a sentence—put in something like <ref>URL or information on your source</ref>. So you can write something like, for example, "Shinee is known for their fashion style.<ref>[http://www.newsen.com/news_view.php?uid=200805200847141002 Ha Sang Beak, Shinee's designer]</ref>". There are also more complicated ways to cite facts, so read Wikipedia:Citing sources and see what other articles are doing for more help. And remember, you can cite magazines and other non-Internet sources too.
  1. Also one other thing on sources, you should make sure that the source you're using can be considered a reliable source.
  • So sources like TodayKorea and allkpop are great sources, but websites like forums or personal sites and blogs shouldn't be used.
  1. In discography lists, things like chart rankings, sales, certifications, and labels should be included, but please remember to always add a source to anything you add. If you don't, it may get deleted in the future. But note track lists should not be included in discographies. Track lists should only be included in the articles of the specific releases.
  • For an example of how discography articles should look like, see Joel Turner discography. That article has sources for every fact and statistic, so it has "featured list" status. For more information on making great discographies, read MOS:DISCOG.

Well that's just about everything I wanted to tell you about Korean-related articles.
