FootballPakistan or FootballPakistan.com is a football website dedicated to Association football in Pakistan and the Pakistani Diaspora around the world.

Launched in mid 2002 by Malik Riaz Hai Naveed, it is the most popular and well known Pakistani football websites. With articles from the national team to youth football, and interviews with players and coaches, it carries the latest football news from Pakistan and aboard.

The website has an affiliated forum where people discuss relevant footballing issues of the day.

History[edit]

In 2001, Malik Riaz Hai Naveed was searching the internet at home in Germany looking for Pakistan football atrciles. He decided to start his own Pakistani football website when he heard that Pakistan had a national football team which was competing in the World Cup qualifiers. So Malik Riaz went ahead and created www.pakistanifootball.cjb.net which was supported by Iftikhar Younas and became the first website centred wholly on Pakistani football.

In February 2003 they both moved the site to www.footballPakistan.com. Over the years he and the other staff have made links with people in Pakistani football, such as PFF officials to football players.

They have also help support Pakistan football, such as brining in foreign players who eligible to represent the national team. These include names such as Zesh Rehman and Adnan Ahmed.

Despite this, they lack support from the PFF who fail to acknowledge the website and the work it has done to further football in the country.

Nature of FootballPakistan[edit]

As the most prominent website devoted Pakistan football, they have been in the forefront in highlighting the sport. The site is split into two halves, the main website, and the forum.

The main website displays all the current news. Shown articles for General Pakistani football, the national team, the Pakistan Premier League, youth football, women’s football and other domestic football. Some of these articles come from newspapers or other websites. However, the staff of the website also write their own articles.

The forum tends to be driving force of the many initiatives that FootballPakistan.com conduct. Both forum administrators and members discuss the performance of teams in the PPL and the national side. They also actively try to support the national team by helping find players and coaches from outside Pakistan.

Other[edit]

In 2008, the team behind FootballPaksitan.com decided to invest in Pakistan football. Initially this revolved around created a team for the second edition of Geo super league based Faisalabad. The team was to be known as Atheltico Faisalabad, inspired by Spanish football. However, when the Geo Super league was permanently suspended, the aborted idea was moved to the Pakistan Premier League. They took part control of PMC FC and renamed it PMC Club Atheltico Faisalabad.
