'''RCN Novelas''' (formerly '''RCN Telenovelas''') is a Latin American subscription television channel of Colombian origin, owned by the Ardila Lulle Organization and operated by RCN Televisión, and has been broadcasting since August 27, 2009.
RCN Novelas is one of RCN Televisión's three international channels with a signal in Latin America, along with NTN24 and RCN Nuestra Tele Internacional.
History
[edit]It began as a test signal on August 5, 2009 and was launched on August 27, 2009 under the name RCN Telenovelas, exclusively on "UNE" in Medellín.
In November 2013, the channel was renamed as RCN Novelas.
In December 2013, the RCN Novelas signal expanded throughout Latin America.
On July 1, 2015, the channel's logo takes on a new image and new graphics, including telenovelas such as "En los tacones de Eva" and "Las trampas del amor".
In August 2016, the channel changes its aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9.
In August 2017, the Venezuelan National Telecommunications Commission censored the broadcasting of several Colombian channels, including RCN Novelas. RCN Televisión denounced serious violations of freedom of the press and expression in Venezuela.
In October 16, 2017 the channel reaches the U.A Hispanic public in through the cable operator Optimum.
On August 27, 2018, the channel's logo takes on a new look and new graphics.
