Kha Banh, whose real name is Ngo Ba Kha (born on the 27th of November 1993) is a Vietnamese gangster, entertainer and YouTuber.

Kha Banh once owned a YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers[1], receiving 60–80 million VND per month, the highest was over 400 million VND from YouTube. Many video clips of this channel have shocking and controversial content in the community because there are many images of violent and controversial acts such as smashing motorcycles.[2]

On April 2, 2019, Kha Banh was arrested by the police of Bac Ninh province for gambling and organizing gambling. When in police custody, he tested positive for narcotics.[3] Before that, Kha Banh was arrested many times for intentionally causing injury. In addition, Kha Banh was also fined for riding motorcycles in rows and taking pictures at the same time while on a highway. Soon after, Kha Banh's YouTube channel was also blocked for "violating the Terms of Service".[4] After a trial, Kha Banh was sent to Hoang Tien detention center (Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province). On December 20, 2020, there was a rumor that Kha Banh died in prison. Colonel Le Ngoc Chau, director of Hai Duong Provincial Public Security, confirmed this rumor was not accurate.[5] Banh's relatives also denied this information.[6]

Ngo Ba Kha was born on November 27, 1993 in Tu Son town, Bac Ninh province, in a family with 4 sisters (3 sisters and Banh). Well-educated until 7th grade, then dropped out. Kha Banh started making money at the age of 14 with carpentry. After that, Banh went through many different jobs. At the age of 17, when he was caught up in beating people and caused injuries, Kha Banh was forced to enter the Second Education Camp in Yen Mo, Ninh Binh. Here, Kha Banh is proud of becoming the leader of more than 1000 students. In 2012, Kha Banh left the camp. Kha Banh's work is mainly related to the issue of lending money. According to the account of Kha Banh, Banh only beat people when people did not pay their debts and never deceived anyone or did things like stealing.

In 2013, Kha Banh married a person from the same commune, but in 2017, the two divorced. In two consecutive years 2014 and 2016, Ngo Ba Kha was arrested by the Tu Son town police for his deliberate act of injuring and disrupting public order. In 2017, Kha Banh went to prison for beating someone, causing injuries due to debt collection.In March 2019, Kha Banh posted a photo of a motorbike stop, with a group of young people standing across the street taking pictures on the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway on his personal Facebook page. A few days later, Kha Banh was called to the police station and had to pay a fine of 5.5 million VND and was deprived of the right to use his driver's license for 2 months. At the end of March 2019, Kha Banh posted a video of himself burning vehicles on his personal YouTube page. After the vehicle burning, Kha Banh was summoned by the police of Bac Ninh province. On April 2, 2019, Kha Banh was arrested by the police of Bac Ninh province for gambling-related crimes. When in police custody, he tested positive for narcotics. Before that, Kha Banh was also arrested many times for intentionally causing injury.

Although Kha Banh's YouTube channel was created in 2014, it wasn't until 2018 that Kha Banh's channel really blew up.[1] Throughout the videos' content, pictures or Kha Banh's statements posted on social media portrays a young "gangster", who dresses in a "gangster" style, uses bad language, has a lot of money and has a crowd of gang members and the exchanges with other "gangsters" in the mafia world.[7]



Every month, Kha Banh earns from 60-80 million VND (2.000-3.500 USD) with some months even reaching up to 500 million VND (~22.000 USD) from YouTube.[8][9] Most of the footage of Kha Banh on YouTube contains advertisements of illegal gambling and betting. Furthermore, famous brands in Vietnam, such as the Maritime Shipment Bank (MSB), Yamaha, etc. have all shown up in Kha Banh's videos.

An electric scooter brand had even been the main character, appearing in one of Kha Banh's videos of him burning a motorcycles to be given an electric scooter.[10] As of April 2, 2019, Kha Banh's channel has reached 2 million subscribers.[1] On April 3, 2019, this channel was locked, and a day after Kha Banh was arrested.[11][12]
