The National Centre for Strategic Leadership Formed in 2009, the National Centre was constituted to raise the profile of strategic leadership in the UK and to encourage and support senior leaders to become professionally qualified and maintain their professional capability.

Between 2009 and 2014 it operated as an independent provider, supporting hundreds of leaders through professional qualification and professional development, led by it's founder Nigel Girling CMgr FCMI FRSA. In 2014, it was acquired by The Babington Group, who had been one of its main supporters from the beginning and who wanted to help it to grow and to achieve its aims across a broader market.

Accredited to support leaders to professional qualification from CEO & Chair (Level 8 - doctoral level)through senior leadership (Levels 7 and 6 - post-graduate and honours-graduate level), to middle management (Levels 5 and 4 - foundation graduate and HND level) and on to first-line and supervisory levels (Levels 3 and 2 - Advanced and General CSE level). From 2015, NC4SL was also accredited to support senior leaders who had qualified at higher diploma levels to Chartership.
