The Nittany Lion Inn is a hotel and conference center located on Penn State Universities campus that opened in 1931. The hotel is owned and managed by Penn State Hospitality Services and Penn State School of Hospitality Management.[2]

As Penn State’s athletic contests became more popular with alumni and research activities were generating an increased demand for hosting conferences and meetings that could not be provided for off-campus. So in May 1930 the college broke ground for a new hotel, located in the woods next to New Beaver Field and Rec Hall. By 1931 it opened with rooms for $3.50 a night and meals offered in a traditional, informally furnished country inn. The Nittany Lion Inn was originally under the management of the Treadway Corporation. It became a self-supporting arm of the college and a training ground for hotel management majors in 1948.
