“FlYY Girl,”Tyree Omar In the novel “Flyy Girl” there is a young lady name Tracy Ellison, who goes through many struggles and ups and down. Her parents decide to split up when Tracy was small. Her father was in and out of the house from that point on and Tracy was never the same after that. As the story goes on Tracy’s mother Patti began to date and see other men. Tray wasn’t too fine of the idea of her mother with another man. Tracy was young but very curious, she would ask her mother questions about her father all the time. With no interest in boys at the moment, boys would constantly throw themselves at her and she would pay no mind to them. Before her teenage years she was the top of her class, and had every little girl wishing they had such good deeds like Tracy had.

As time went on Tracy was exposed to more and introduced to alot more than what she was used to. For example when tracy was in her early teenage years she head began to explore with boys at school. The more boys that she had gone with, the more she thought she needed better. Tracy was determined to find the one boy who would give her everything she wanted in a boy.Thats when she met Victor Hinson. Tracy had sex with him for her first time and after that she was never the same instant little girl after that. Tracy went to parties and hanged around people that had done drugs. Not only did her appearance change but so did her grades at school and her attitude at home. Tracy was turning into one of those fast girls her mother would tell not to become when she got to the age that tracy was at now.

Soon after Tracy was just using guys to get more attention more like testing them. After a while she seemed like a hoe to her close friends and the boys she had messed with. But she still had plenty of boys to see and go with. Even though Victor and her were no longer talking, she would always hold him in her heart. She did her best to avoid him, not only did Tracy had game and clever ways so did Victor and all his boys.A couple of years go bye and Tracy has grown up to be a fine young lady and working. She sees her first love again Victor Hinson for the last time before she goes off to college and work. Victor gives her a ride to the train station and once again Tracy falls for Victor sweet talk. Being her biggest mistake revealing to Victor that she had falling in love with him, Victor knew he had Tracy under his spell once again!

Reception

[edit]

“Tyree captures black language as it is spoken among peers." Publisher Weekly says.”The conversation of youngsters caught in a highly pressured sexual atmosphere, test-driving their sexualitly long before they’re old enough for a license, is profane and vivid.” From publisher weekly the novel ‘Flyy girl” is a good but overrated book. it has alot of “Black Language,” “Highly Sexual atmosphere, test driving their sexuality.” Also publisher weekly says that “The narrative flow is often disrupted by too many italics and slang-defining asides, and by a rocky imbalance between neutral narration and vernacular. The real problem “here” as in the novel is a crucial lack of depth.”[1]
