Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?
[edit](Briefly explain why you chose it, why it matters, and what your preliminary impression of it was.)
One Tree Hill is a TV Series that I watched twice in my life, once when I was quite young in middle school, and once when I was abroad in my 5th year of high school. The TV show discusses many aspects that teen dramas tend to such as virginity, Teen Romance, family struggles, and generally navigating one's teenage years. Initially, I was shocked at how lengthy the Wikipedia article about One Tree Hill was, because I didn't watch it when it was popular so I didn't understand how many people would be interested enough to contribute to an article and with so much specificity. Evaluate the article
[edit](Compose a detailed evaluation of the article here, considering each of the key aspects listed above. Consider the guiding questions, and check out the examples of what a useful Wikipedia article evaluation look like.)
The article about One Tree Hill (TV Series) was substantial, informative, and had a diverse range of sources that provided citations for the information written. While many of the sources came from pop culture magazines and TV interviews, what was cited from these interviews were facts about the show itself, rather than opinions and subjective information. However, I would like to offer some suggestions along with praise.
- The Lead section is lengthy, but contains relevant information about the TV series, so if someone wanted a quick overview of the topic then they could read the first paragraph or so and have a bit of an idea of the show. The lead section describes the setting of the show, the broadcasters, and the relevant premier dates, but only a small amount of plot detail. I think that was the correct choice because the plot can be explained more in depth in more specific sections, whereas the lead is an introduction to the topic as a whole.
- The Cast and Character section of the article has a wide range of cast members, and while all sections of the article should be roughly equal, I think that there could be much more depth added to the main character descriptions, and not to mention that they completely fail to mention late series main characters.
- The main issues in this section is that there is lots of focus on the early brother rivalry between the Lucas and Nathan Scott, and the love triangle between Lucas, Peyton, and Brooke Davis, but little focus on the second half of the series where Lindsay Strauss, who was engaged to protagonist Lucas Scott.
- Additionally, the Themes section is quite lacking when it comes to subheadings. Romance and basketball are not the only two themes in the show, and in the lead sentence for the section it even lists other themes such as friendship, rivalry, betrayal, family dynamics, and substance use. Also, if there are going to be subsections for romance and basketball, then they should be listed in the opening sentence of the theme section.
- I was pleased to see in the history of the page edits that there were updates as current as Jan 24, 2021 and there are at least a handful of edits monthly for the year 2020. This can help prove that the article receives updates and the information is current. Nsfrohli (talk) 00:29, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
