Carlos Jose Garcia Oca known professionally as Ocabonis (born in january 1,1977) is a Dominican composer, keyboardist, pianist, and music producer who resided in the United States. Known for [what he is known for].[8]

Early life[edit]

From a very young age he knew that his passion was music, inheriting talent and character from his father, who was a trained professional trumpeter. Since the tender age of 6, there was no object from which young Carlos could not extract music, using any surface like a drum or practicing the piano with his fingers in the air.

His father encouraged him to develop his talent. Guided by this support and his own determination, he decided to pursue his dreams as a musician. In 1990, he started his studies at the “National Music Conservatory” (CNM) in the Dominican Republic. The world expanded for him, being exposed to the works of the great masters and exponents of music. Ocabonis made it his mission to learn something from each period of music he studied, from the styles of great composers of the Baroque era up to contemporary masters of music.

During his time at CNM, he also made sure to find his place in the artistic scene working as a professional musician with the most prominent bands of Jazz music in the Dominican Republic. He was also very attracted to Merengue, spending his time learning about this music genre and searching for ways in which he could contribute to it. He was invited to be a member of the Merengue-Jazz fusion group “Licuado”, and via this group he was able to share the stage with various music legends from the Dominican Republic. His talent and his dedication to his art, earned him the nickname of Carlos “The Heritage”, which he humbly received.
