SEWEC - Second Wave Emerging Countries
The term SEWEC is an abbreviation of Second Wave Emerging Countries. The countries referred to are those that are considered of the highest economic importance beyond the developed and BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries.
After the coining of the BRIC term, several new groupings were setup, to highlight those countries that are next in line. CIVETS, N11, Top10.
The challenge being that each grouping tended to ignore one or other of the important economies, sometimes due to length of the list, sometimes du to naming.
