Sarkodie,^[1] born Michael Owusu Addo is a Ghanaian recording artist, entertainer, brand ambassador and a BET Awards 2012 Best International Act winner.^[2] He is also referred to as Obidi Pon Bidi. Many Ghanaians recognize him as a leading Hip hop and Hip Life artist. He is considered a major proponent of the Azonto genre and dance. Born on the 10th of July 1988, Sarkodie, the fourth of five children, was raised in the Harbour City known as Tema by his mum, Emma Maame Aggrey, a single parent.^[3]
