non-chembox sections

[edit]

Barium metaplumbate, BaPbO3, is a ternary oxide of barium and lead. It has a orthorhombic perovskite structure and is in the space group Imma.

Synthesis

[edit]

Barium metaplumbate can be synthesized by the BaCO3 and PbO under oxygen atmosphere.

Properties

[edit]

Barium metaplumbate is semimetallic, unlike the related compound barium stannate, due to partial overlap between the O 2p valence band and the Pb 6s conduction band.

Superconductivity

[edit]

Superconductivity in the BaPb1-xBixO3 system was discovered in 1975 with a maximum Tc of 13 K.[1]
