non-chembox sections[edit]

Lithium tetraamine, Li(NH3)4, is a weakly metallic electride which has the lowest known melting point of any metal. It lies close to a Mott metal insulator transition

Structure[edit]

Each lithium atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by four NH3 molecules. Body centered cubic crystal structure stable between 82 and 89 K, hexagonal structure stable below 82 K.

Deuterated[edit]

Melts at 89 K Doesn't undergo a phase transition at 82 K. Transition to simple cubic structure at 22 K.

Magnetic properties[edit]

Electrical properties[edit]

Preparation[edit]

Formed from the dissolution of lithium in ammonia at the proper ratio

Reactions[edit]

Powerful reducing agent
