Research
[edit]Glǎveanu takes a sociocultural approach to creativity. Based on his PhD work, he proposed an alternative to the longstanding "Four Ps" framework first put forward by Mel Rhodes in 1961.[2] Glǎveanu argues that this model is too highly focused on the individual, thus ignores the wider social context in which creativity takes place.[3]
Glaveanu has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and 15 books and edited volumes, on creativity and related topics. Some of his notable publications include:
- Glaveanu, V. P. (2014). Distributed creativity: Thinking outside the box of the creative individual. Springer Cham Switzerland: Springer.

- Glaveanu, V. P. (2020). The possible: A sociocultural theory. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press.
Glaveanu is also the founder and editor-in-chief of the journal Possibility Studies & Society, launched in 2023, which aims to explore the role of possibility in human and social development, and to foster interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration on this topic. He is also an associate editor of the journals Culture & Psychology and The Journal of Creative Behavior, and a member of the editorial board of several other journals, such as Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, Creativity Research Journal, and Thinking Skills and Creativity.
