On the Wall

[edit]
The On the Wall section for research materials was inspired by the "Waldy and Bendy’s Adventures in Art" podcast, where at the end of each episode Waldemar Januszczak and Bendor Grosvenor would wind-up selecting a favorite picture hung on their 'invisible wall'.

Forced perspective

[edit]
Perspective corridor at the Spada Palace by Francesco Borromini, Rome.
Built in 1635 for Bernardino Spada, who was a cardinal and served as an important papal negotiator at that time, the corridor was designed with an optical illusion to make it appear significantly longer and grander. The space of only 8.5 meters was transformed by Borromini into the visual deception of an extensive entrance way into the palace.
