Alexandra Alden (born 8 April 1994)[1] is a Maltese singer-songwriter living in Rotterdam.

Life and career[edit]

She was born in Malta and raised in Tutzing, Germany, where her family moved for several years.[2]

She provides backing vocals for band Martin McNeil & The Dissidents[3]. Several tracks with her ... were ... on their debut album.

At the end of 2012, her first song Dancing Alone was released on Youtube, and on 4 February 2013 on Bandcamp. It was ranked first on Malta's Top 10 (89.7 Bay).[4].

Her debut EP The Curious Child was released on Bandcamp, on 13 April 2013.

In the same year, Alden moved to Utrecht, the Netherlands, where she began studying jazz music at the Hogeschool voor de Kunstenu, and a year later to Rotterdam, where she continued her studies at the Codarts conservatory. In December 2014, Alden won the second edition of the Jong QuiteQuiet Songwriting Competition hosted in Delft.[4].[5]

Her first studio album 'Wild Honey was released, on 24 March 2018.

In 2018, she served as a judge on the inaugural season of [[X Factor Malta]. She returned to serve as a judge in 2019.

In 2019, she won the Ad Van Meurs Prijs in the category Het Mooiste Liedje (the most beautiful song) for the Darling.

In 2021 was relased her second studio album Leads To Love. The music video for the song Vagabond, directed by Bruce Micallef Eynaud, won the Malta Youth Film Festival 2022 in Best Creativity and Originality. It was also nominated at the Swedish International Film Festival in Best Music Video.

In 2023, she was invited to cooperate by the British cartoonist Chris Riddell, preparing illustrations for the new edition of the book The Little Prince. In June 2023, her song inspired by this book Blossom, Dearest', was released on streaming services. As part of the cooperation with Chris Riddell, the On The Cosmic Shore project was created, during which the cartoonist, live, illustrated songs performed by Alden.
