Barney Goldberg (October 14, 1921 – December 12, 2011[2]) was an American basketball player. Goldberg played college basketball for Loyola University Maryland from 1939 to 1943. In 2008 he was named to the Loyola basketball All-Century Team.[3] Goldberg went on to play with the Baltimore Bullets in the American Basketball League 1946–1947 season.[2][4] Goldberg coached the Harrisburg Senators for seven games during the 1947–1948 season, compiling a record of 1 win and 6 losses.[5] Goldberg married Elaine M. Pitsinger, who predeceased him 2008, with whom he had nine children, twenty-eight grandchildren, and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.[6][7]

25 Years Ago (Week of Aug. 16-22, 1970): Three Howard County attorneys -- Bernard F. Goldberg, Reginald D. Mallory and Thomas E. Nissell -- were nominated to fill a vacancy in the People's Court judgeship. The position had been held by Philip T. Sybert, who had resigned for health reasons.[8]
