Konoka Matsuda (Japanese: 松田好花, Hepburn: Matsuda Konoka, born April 27, 1999 in Kyoto Prefecture)[1] is a Japanese musician, actress, and presenter. She is a member of the girl group Hinatazaka46.
Early life and education
[edit]Matsuda trained in classical ballet from the age of three until she joined Hiragana Keyakizaka46. She was also a member of the taiko club and started playing the guitar in a band in high school.[2]
Career
[edit]Matsuda is a fan of Nogizaka46 and Keyakizaka46 and used to attend their handshake events. She took part in the 2017 Hiragana Keyakizaka audition and was introduced as one of the group's nine second generation members on August 15.[3][4]
On October 4, 2018, Matsuda appeared as female lead Mariko Senri in an all-female stage production of Rainbow Parakeet. She is the first member of the group to appear in a stage production outside the group's own, which also featured then Nogizaka46 member Junna Ito in the titular role.[5][6] The play was released on Hulu Japan on June 24, 2021.[7]
Matsuda took a health leave to treat an eye disorder on September 21, 2020[8][9] and returned at the Hina Christmas (Hinakuri) 2020 concert.[10] While recuperating, she obtained the Level 2 certification of the Kanji Kentei.[11]
Matsuda and fellow Hinatazaka46 members Mei Higashimura and Yūka Kageyama were appointed support ambassadors for the DAZN's AFC Asian Cup qualifications "Road to Qatar" campaign from August 2021 to March 2022. As a football expert, Kageyama produced an introductory video series to the sport, in which Matsuda and Higashimura represented the football novices.[12] She was also a regular Monday co-host for the TBS morning show Love It! from August to September 2021, joining the "Love It! Family" of entertainers appointed in similar roles.[13][14] An incidence of her bursting into tears during the live broadcast was voted as a "Most Unforgettable Love It!" moment by the viewers in March 2022.[15]
Personal life
[edit]Matsuda has an older sister.[2] She enjoys hot yoga.[16]
