The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) is a national trade association which is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1929, It represents America's oil and natural gas producers and explorers, who are responsible for developing 95% of U.S. oil and gas wells, producing 54% of domestic oil and 85% of domestic natural gas.
The main function of the association is to educate Congress, the administration, the media, and the public on issues facing America's independent oil and natural gas producers. IPAA also provides economic and statistical information about the domestic exploration and production industry. In addition, the association organizes various investment symposiums and networking events for its members.
