Background

Jennie Walker (aka JennieGirl), daughter of a Retired Army Colonel and a mother who studied and performed opera, was born in a military hospital on Ft.Hood, Texas. Motivated by her mother's passion for song writing, singing and performing, she got a passion that would become the driving force for her musical journey. As a teenager Jennie used to write songs together with her mother who gave her a musical childhood and put her in piano classes and choir. She began winning regional competitions for her song writing and a song she co-wrote with her mother “Many Times” was selected for the Budweiser Rock to Richs LP in 1982. She and her mother late signed a single –song publishing agreement with Lowery Music for their song “Loving You.”

Artist Career

Jennie moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1985 where she began volunteering her time with the Atlanta Songwriters Association and performing in the area her original music. She honed her writing and performing skills at open mic nights and venues such as Eddies Attic and the Red Light. She performed in the band Bailey Park for a number of years during her time in Atlanta. Jennie moved to New York City in 2000 where she eventually met her producer, Tommy Faragher, a Grammy Nominee and 12-time platinum selling producer has worked with Taylor Dayne, Elvis Costello, Robbie Nevil, Keli Price, Brenda K Starr, O’Jays, Hall and Oates, Eternal, Bardot and is currently working with the Emmy winning TV series Glee.

Music Production

Jennie and Tommy worked on her music for six years before completing the songs on her debut album “Night Flight to London” which is scheduled to hit the marketplace during 2011. They received international recognition for their song “It’s Our Time” which was inspired and adopted by numerous volunteers and supporters of then Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential run. She has performed for international notables including Nelson Mandela's wife Graça Machel and the Rockefeller family as well as South African teenagers. Jennie runs her own music publishing company Jennie Walker Music Publishing (ASCAP), representing her own music catalogue. December 9, 2010 British Airways selected Jennie as a 2010 Face-of-Opportunity winner as a part of the British Airways Face-to-Face program. Her winning music business pitch, surrounding her debut album “Night Flight to London” was also recognized as a Top 10 entry in the competition, out of thousands of entries.

Jennie is also a background actor who has been seen in a Toyota commercial, TV series “Glee”, “Nip Tuck”, “Without A Trace”, and “Grey's Anatomy” as well as in the feature films “The Real McCoy” “Free Jack” “Remember the Titans”, ”The Back-Up Plan” from 2010 starring Jennifer Lopez.

Comedy Career

Jennie made her stand-up comedy debut opening for top comics Mark Riccadonna, Anna Manis Covington, John Fugelsang, Sean Lynch and others at Q.E.D. in Astoria, New York on January 3, 2015.

Jennie has performed at New York area venues such as LoveCraft, Q.E.D., West End Comedy and the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City.

Charity Work

Jennie is active in non-profit and charity fundraising endeavours. She is a member of the Artists Against Hunger & Poverty Program of WhyHunger (of which Bruce Springsteen is a member). She wants to give back to community and has made a personal pledge to ensure all of her music performances and music business activities to have a charitable component. Jennie founded The Connective, a panel series aimed at helping aspiring songwriters and artists learn about the music business through a panel of music industry experts and which also raises awareness and funds for charities. She has been a staff member of organizations like The Carter Center in Atlanta (founded by former President Jimmy Carter), The Synergos Institute (founded by David Rockefeller’s daughter Peggy Dulany) Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Most recently, Jennie has been serving as a consulting to a variety of international non profit organizations.
