There are two springs next to Nagybakónak by the name Esperanto-springs (Eszperantó-források). In Hungary, there are - at least - four other springs with this name – at Piliscsév, Lillafüred, Kaposvár and Dombóvár, but the spring at Piliscsév has had this name for the longest time. Its name started a spontaneous process, the esperanto spring cult.

The spring on the left was initially called Árpád-spring, its current name is Kalman Kalocsay - Esperanto-spring, the other's current name is Gyula Baghy - Esperanto-spring.

Location

The springs are between Nagykanizsa and Zalakaros, next to Nagybakónak. On the Google maps: Árpád-cserészforrás (Eszperantó-források:Kalocsay Kálmán és Baghy Gyula )

History

The springs are located in the end of a rock gorge, 17 kilometers from Nagykanizsa. In the gorge, there was the Árpád-spring. It got its name from the scouts, because it was their beloved meeting place in the 1930s. The spring on the left was initially called Árpád spring, its current name is Kalman Kalocsay - Esperanto spring, the other spring's current name is Gyula Baghy - Esperanto spring. In the late '70s, the Nature Consevationist Associasion of Nagykanizsa and local esperansits renovated the springs, which had delapidated by then. In 1980 got the springs their current names. After that, the scouts placed an Árpád memorial tablet between the two spring.
