Yamaha R5 ...
The Yamaha R5 was a street motorcycle produced by Yamaha Motor Corporation from 1970 to 1972. Its successors include the RD and RZ series street motorcycles.
Just as the RD350, the R5 was a two-stroke, two-cyclinder, forward-canted parallel twin that developed approximately 36 horsepower at 7000 rpm and approximately 14 lbft torque at 6000 rpm. However, the R5 eschewed reed valves in favor of five-port induction. This led to a greater, peaky power curve and less low-end torque than the RD350. Also, the R5 utilized drum brakes for both wheels, whereas the RD350 had a disc brake on the front and a drum brake on the rear.
