How a Person Can Change His Direction While not necessarily referring to the more obvious alternative meaning denoting course of motion, I think a change in direction for a person means altering the orchestration of the continuum of life. Often, I think of the direction of life as a matter of fate and destiny, and taking responsibility for the trajectory life takes towards either is personal. From my point of view, people, individually, come from societies that bring up children to understand life, and the means to herald it, from different notions that are manifest in the direction they take later in life. A person can, therefore, change their direction by developing intellectual autonomy and moral independence to see the need for change and the alternative devoid of childhood and social influence. From the inchoate phases of personal development, we develop by learning patterns from the immediate "nurtural" environment. I recall childhood bullies who made an excuse for misconduct on fatherly advice or observation of domestic violence. Should the society accommodate bullying as in some competitive contexts and he gets away with it often enough or gets rewarded, he may grow accustomed to an asymmetrical power distribution around other people. Intellectually, he compromises other information growing up, ultimately leading a “kind” of life. He may be overbearing, loud, non-empathetic, ignorant, delusional, and prone to violence because of an incompetent emotional intelligence. As a temperamental abusive father, frustrated with his lack of accomplishment and contemplating divorce or suicide, such a man is a victim of circumstances. His upbringing was poor and the society ignorant that compromised his intellectual and moral development and direction in life. To change his course, he needs to emancipate his adult intellect and see his father demonstrating violence. He should recognize the social convention that the toughest get through and question roughness. Through the power of his mind, he can realize what he learned without a choice as a child out of innocence and the society by ignorance and unlearn. By inquiring the validity of the facts informing his direction, he can attain moral independence to commission autonomous intellectual discretion in an alternative direction.
