Jeong Cheol (정철, 1536–1593) was a Korean statesman and poet. He used the pen-names Gyeham(계함) and Songgang(송강), and studied under Kim Yunjae at Hwanbyeokdang.

Succession of King Seonjo

[edit]

Some hints.

He was a Westerner.

He proposed to design xxx as Crown Prince to King Seonjo (death 1608), while Easterners were proposing Prince Gwanghae (lkb221)

Esterners split into Northerners (wanting death of JC) and Southerners (wanting only exile).

He was ""expulsed"" by the Easterners.

A century later, Westerners split themselves into Noron and Soron.

Literary works

[edit]

To be precised.

He is ""prominent"" in the gasa and the sijo, which are forms of classical Korean poetry.

  • Gwandong Byeolgok (the Song of the Sceneries of the Gwandong).
  • Samiingok (Mindful of My Seemly Lord).
  • Songgang Gasa (Songgang's Prose Poetry Book).
