The Pointe (Grain Valley, Missouri) new article content ... The Pointe is a weekly newspaper and website serving Grain Valley, Missouri and the surrounding community in eastern Jackson County, Missouri. It has a circulation of 4,000.

The Pointe was first established as a monthly newsletter in November of 1998, after several investors saw a demand for a publication with information, features and school sports specific to their community. This group of business people felt their community was largely ignored by local daily newspapers in the greater Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area.

Beginning in January of 1999, the paper began to publish bi-weekly, and remained bi-weekly until 2007, when it started publishing weekly. The publication's website, grainvalleypointe.com, launched in March of 2009.

Historically, Grain Valley, currently a city of around 13,000, was without its own newspaper for most of its existence. A paper in the early 1900s, the Grain Valley Voice, died with its publisher. All attempts at creating a replacement had failed in the intervening 85 years before The Pointe was established.

The newspaper has served the community of Grain Valley during a time of significant population growth; from less than 5,000 residents in 1998, the size of the city has more than doubled in a relatively short time. That growth has driven much of the paper's news and revenue.

The newspaper and website's publisher is Zachary Pross, who is a partner in the ownership group, Bedlam Farms, Inc. Bedlam Farms purchased the assets of The Pointe from the former owners in 2011. The editor-in-chief is Christopher Fischer, and the advertising manager is Joe Caldrone.
