Ricardo Mora Castaño (Pereira, Colombia; November 24, 1974) is a Colombian engineer graduated from the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. He was a candidate for the council of Pereira in 2019. And he is a citizen oversight, has supervised the School Feeding Plan and defended the children involved, the elderly in Pereira and Dosquebradas.

Biography[edit]

Son of the engineer José Joaquín Mora Tovar and Rosa María Castaño Cortes. He is the brother of Juan Manuel and Gustavo Adolfo. In grade 10 he was a candidate for the vice presidency of the Salesian College San Juan Bosco de Dosquebradas.

He served in the Colombian army in the years 1992 and 1993, he left the army the day Pablo Escobar was killed december 2 1993.

He was a writer of opinion columns in the newspapers La Tarde and El Diario del Otún.

There he focused on conducting economic analyzes of the region and also participated in the publication 500 companies that make Risaralda great.

Political career[edit]

He began his political career in the indignant committee against the recovery charge in Pereira in 2014[2] With: Daniel Silva, Carlos Alfredo Crosthwaite Ferro, Mauricio Uribe, Oscar Uribe, Álvaro Franco, Diego Gonzálezand many other citizens, there were more than 12 marches and sit-ins, during the entire process of marches he was part of the committee, and he also organized marches in the city of Pereira , awsuits were also made against the valuation agreement, lawsuits filed by Carlos Alfredo Crosthwaite Ferro, Daniel Silva y Ricardo Mora Castaño, that ended up sinking the recovery agreement (agreement 38 of 2013) in Pereira in March 2018, started in the Mayor's Office of Enrique Vásquez, and that finally had to return the administration of Juan Pablo Gallo through Carlos Maya.​[3]

In 2017, he denounced a city councilor for selling bonds so as not to steal, an investigation that is in the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, without ruling until 2019[4].[5][6]

Through citizen oversight he carried out exceptional control of the Dosquebradas comptroller, a process carried out by the Comptroller General of the Republic and which generated more than 60 findings: prosecutors, disciplinary and criminal, in the process of stamping the elderly in Dosquebradas (Risaralda).[7]

It has supported other oversight and citizen watchdogs on the subject of school feeding, more precisely in the Pereira school feeding program, Dosquebradas and in the state of Risaralda.

It was when the findings of “Raw meat and soup with worms: menu for Pereirano school students” with the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic at the José Antonio Galán Educational Institution with the Comptroller for the social seeing the problem first hand.[8]

He was manager of the campaign to the house of representatives of Adriana González in 2018 by the Colombia coalition.

In 2019 it aspired to the Pereira council, with the endorsement of the Party Polo Democrático Alternativo . His fight against corruption is summed up in a phrase "What politicians know the most is to steal and they are rats", denounces the engineer Mora, aspiring to concejo de Pereira[9][10]
