History

[edit]

James was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Prior to becoming a recording artist, James trained as a flamenco dancer in Madrid, Spain.[1] She collaborated with well-known dancers including Rafael Amargo, Antonio Canales, and Paco de Lucia.[1][2] During this time, James played bass in the rock band The Late Late Show and in the Australian National Tour of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.[2][3][4]

After several years touring the world as a professional flamenco dancer, in 2015 James co-founded and began performing under the record label Le Coq Records, a small independent label based in Las Vegas, Nevada, that James co- founded with her husband, Piero Pata.[5][6] James released the jazz albums Caravan, All the Lovely Things You Are, and No Regrets on Le Coq Records in 2018. That same year she made her concert debut in Los Angeles, California, performing with Bill Cunliffe.[4]
