FHAD1
Forkhead-associated domain containing protein 1 (FHAD1) is a protein encoded by the FHAD1 gene.
The function of this protein is not well understood. FHAD1 has 4 aliases, Forkhead associated phosphopeptide binding domain 1, Forkhead-associated (FHA) phosphopeptide binding domain 1, FHA Domain-Containing Protein 1, and KIAA1937[1].
In humans specifically, it is highly expressed in the testes with some expression in the lung and stomach tissues[2].
Gene
[edit]Location
[edit]In humans, FHAD1 is located on chromosome 1 (1p36.21) and the genomic sequence starts from 15236559 bp and ends at 15400283 bp[2].
Gene neighborhood
[edit]In humans, FHAD 1 contains 42 exons, is located on chromosome 1 or 1p36.21 and spans from 15236559 bp to 15400283 bp[2]. It has 22 splice variants and 86 orthologues[2].
Protein
[edit]The FHAD1 protein encoded by this gene is 16.2kDa and has 3 isoforms, namely 1, 3 and 4. It contains the following conserved regions/domains: a forkhead-associated domain that binds pSer, pThr and pTyr, two Smc regions that encode the SMC (structural maintenance of chromosome) proteins involved in replication and chromosome and chromatid segregation, and a region that encodes TMPIT-like protein annotated as being transmembrane proteins[3].
