Piper Harron
[edit]Mathematician Piper Harron received a Ph.D in mathematics, with a specialization in Number Theory, from Princeton University in 2016. Working with advisor Manjul Bhargava, her dissertation was entitled, "The Equidistribution of Lattice Shapes of Rings of Integers of Cubic, Quartic, and Quintic Number Fields: an Artist’s Rendering"[1] and a PDF copy is available here. She describes her thesis here. Harron currently serves as a Temporary Assistant Professor of Mathematics at The University of Hawaii at Manoa.
As one of the editors of "inclusion/exclusion," a blog for the American Mathematical Society, Harron generated much discussion with her May, 2017 posting, "Get Out of the Way." Here is a link to a sample of the reactions generated. Her commitment to inclusion and diversity is further detailed here and in "The CV of a Liberated Mathematician" she offers her diverse views.
