The Rudrapatna Veena Brothers are an Indian Carnatic Veena duo, consisting of brothers R. P Prashanth and R. P Pramod. The brothers come from a family of musicians from Rudrapatna village off the Kaveri banks in Arkalgud Thaluk of Hassan district in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka.


Early life and career

They are grandsons of Vainika Praveena Mysore Asthana Vidwan R. S. Keshava Murthy, a Renowned Veena Maestro. They are sons of “Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Asthana Vidwan” “Suvarna Karnataka Chetana Awardee” Vidwan Sri R.K.Prasanna Kumar.

They come from a lineage of musicians who have been practicing Carnatic music for seven generations. They started playing the Veena at the tender age of 3 and 7 years. Their musical journey began at home with their first guru being their parents Smt. Poornima and Sri. R K Prasanna Kumar. They were also trained by Vidwan Sri. SrinivasaMurthaachar, Vidwan Sri. Subbanna, Renowned Veena Maestro Kalaimamani Sri. R. K Suryanaryana (their paternal uncle).

They are from the tradition of Saint Thyagaraja Swamy Sishya Parampara. Their grandfather was a direct disciple of Veena Bhakshi Subbanna who was part of the Walajapet sishya parampara and sishya of Mysore Sadasiva Rao.


Concerts

In the US, Prashanth is a part of Fusion Band “Hrudhwani” as a Vocalist and a Veena player. He has given many concerts with the band too at esteemed sabhas like MI India, India League of America- Michigan, AKKA 2018 at Texas, Pampa Kannada Koota-Michigan and so on. He has trained many students in Carnatic Vocal, Veena who also have performed at esteemed sabhas like Great Lakes Aradhana Committee (GLAC)-MI, Vishwa Madhwa Sangha-MI and so on.

In the UK,  Pramod has performed in esteemed Sabhas like Kannada Koota- Scotland, Art of Living in the presence of Sri Sri. Ravishankar Guruji, Kannada Balaga-UK, Scottish Kannada Sangha, so on. He has trained many students in Carnatic Vocal and Veena too.

They have performed in the prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival.
