Hi all,

I'm aware that you'll be well acquainted with this case, but recent developments seem to indicate that a review may be necessary. Please see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Alastair_Haines#status_quo_of_ban

for my very brief write up.

Essentially the situation is that there is no consensus amongst OTRS agents as to whether or not a recent missive constitutes a legal threat or not. A good faith user has already been inadvertently blocked indefinitely and unblocked, and this has potential for further disruption.

Personally, I'd like to see the community be able to indicate how it feels, however OTRS agents are understandable unable to release any information, and non OTRS admin.s are obviously unable to make any sort of call. As an OTRS agent mentioned in IRC today "any admin is able to unblock, although they can't see the evidence ;-)" - there may be a systemic failure here.

I believe it would be sensible for additional eyes on this fairly urgently, I'd also appreciate a suggested framework for speedy resolution which doesn't involve an entire case re-opening!

cheers,

Peter PM.
