Al-Hilal Nasi Kandar Restaurant is a newly opened Malay-Indian cuisine fusion restaurant in the city of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It is one of the few restaurants in Johor Bahru that offer Nasi Kandar styled premium dining experience. It is located at Bandar, Johor Bahru offers nasi kandar and nasi ganja dishes along with popular North and South Indian delicacies.
History
[edit]Nasi kandar is a very popular dish in Malaysia originally introduced in Penang by Tamil Muslim traders from India. It gained popularity along Malaysia and Singapore for many generations by the descendants living in the country. Al-Hilal Restaurant also is a product of such Tamil Muslim traders named M.A Kader and Kader Bin Varusai Ambalam who were cooks turned into chef worked at various restaurants in Malaysia.
After their passing, the family wanted to bring their legacy in the form of a restaurant business, hence they founded Al Hilal Resources Sdn. Bhd. in 2011 as a company[1] and involved in food catering contracts since then. Part of their business expansion they introduced Al-Hilal Nasi Kandar in the year of 2024 in Johor Bahru city[2].
