History
[edit]The association is a legal entity that was founded in 1997 by representatives of Technical University Berlin and some stakeholders of the railway industry in accordance with German association law. It is seated in Berlin (Germany).
The Association is lead by chairman of the board Prof. Raphael Pfaff[3] and Managing Director Eckhard Schulz[4]

[edit]Members of the association are mainly railway companies and research associations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Activities
[edit]BAHNVERBAND e.V. is the publisher of the railway journal "Proceedings in railway technology - Leitthemen der Bahntechnik" with ISSN 2941-8070[5]
The former publishing department "Interdisziplinärer Forschungsverbund Bahntechnik" had published 64 books concerning railway technology.[6]
