Princess Nora Bint AbdulRahman University(Arabic: جامعةالاميرة نورة بنت عبد الرحمان) is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's first and the world's largest exclusively women's university that is now being built east of Al Riyadh. The 2.8 million m2 built-up area campus set to open in 2011 will have a 40,000 student population.

Naming[edit]

King Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, laid the foundation[1] for the Princess Nora Bint AbdulRahman University on the 29th of Shawwal, 1429 (Thursday, October 30 th, 2008) and unveiled his wishes to have the university named in honor of founding King Abdullah Al Saud’s sister Princess Nora Bint AbdulRahman known for her outspokenness, progressive mind and faith.

PNU will be a thoroughly modern campus that is deeply steeped in faith and tradition to represent King Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, clear directives to advance education in the Kingdom and empower Saudi women. Entirely self-sustaining, the campus will be the world's largest LEED® Certified educational institution with the Central Library and Administration buildings receiving the LEED® Gold Rating.

PNU's Medical Center is a 312-bed Tertiary and Quaternary Care facility that will provide outpatient and inpatient including Non-Invasive Diagnostics Medicine, Dialysis, IVF, Interventional Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology Care including Neonatal ICU, Pediatric Care including Pediatric ICU, Cancer Treatment Center, Musculo-Skeletal Clinic, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy and Adult Care to the greater Al Riyadh Metropolitan Area.

The PNU campus will comprise resedential schemes for students and faculty, two K-12 boys and girls schools, a students' sports and recreational facility, and a staff community center. Lacing the entire is the longest APM (Automated People Mover)[2] ever designed for a university; 14 km lifted 10-m high on transversal columns. It laces the entire double Academic (Academic and Health Sciences) plinth and branches into all vital areas of campus.
