Christopher Rann (born 31 December 1946 in Lewisham, United Kingdom) is a publicist and media manager based in Australia.
A former journalist, he is the managing director of Rann Communication, an award-winning Adelaide-based public relations firm operating internationally, with clients and projects in the United Kingdom, France, Scandinavia, the United States, New Zealand and Australia.
He began his journalistic career at Matamata County Mail, a small country newspaper in New Zealand. Prior to setting up his public relations business in 1983, Chris was a senior reporter, sub editor and chief of staff with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Adelaide. He previously worked as a foreign correspondent for the BBC (U.K.), CBS News (U.S.A.) and the South African Morning Newspaper Group.
Chris is an authority on the Scandinavian region and is the Honorary Consul for Finland in South Australia. In 2004, the Government of Finland awarded him the honour of ‘Knight First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland’ for his work in promoting Finland worldwide and for promoting Scandinavia in Australasia.
He has played a key role in major government and corporate deals, such as managing the South Australian Government’s promotional campaign to attract the $5 billion submarine project to Adelaide. He also coordinated Western Mining Corporation’s opening of the world’s biggest copper/uranium resource at Olympic Dam and – for five years – the mine’s other activities.
In 2010, he coordinated the media for the celebrations in Penola of Mary MacKillop's canonisation.
