The Round City of Baghdad was built by the Abbasid caliph al-Mansur in 762. When the Abbasids overthrew the Umayyads in 750, Kufa was the main capital of the Islamic movement and had been since Umar of the Rashidun caliphate founded it. However, the Round City of Baghdad formed into something that that Kufa could never boast despite its : a center of high advancement in the arts, education, and even architecture. al-Mansur highly regarded
