Vendo Vendo.ma (Arabic: فيندو), is a Moroccan shopping search engine for products and offers in Morocco, currently pulling data from more than 150 websites, and indexing more than 220.000 offers and products in Morocco. It was launched in April 2015 and has seen notable growth since then. It has been recently funded by an England-based Angel Investor for a total sum of 2.7 Million Moroccan Dirhams (about 270.000 USD) [1].
History
[edit]Vendo was founded by two engineering students Ibrahim CHRAIBI and Salah Eddine CHERKAOUI in 2014. A year after, the student-entrepreneurs decided to work full time on the project and seek proper funding to continue their project, which they succeeded to land in 2016. The company now employs a total of 6 employees.
Monetization
[edit]The company has announced that they will begin monetizing the project in mid 2017, by using a CPC model similar to Google Adwords [2], where Moroccan companies and brands can feature their products and offers to appear on the top of the results page.
Technology
[edit]Vendo.ma's website is built on Javascript (more info needed). Vendo.ma automatically scraps major Moroccan eCommerce websites to include their products and offers on the website. However, brands can sign up on a dedicated portal to feature their products and offers by submitting their product feed [3]
