Usage[edit]

Always subst.

  • {{subst:SBAWB}} leaves a new section as above;
  • {{subst:SBAWB|y}} leaves an indented comment as below:

Hi, thanks for your message, SmackBot makes a number of changes that are available to all WP:AWB bots - in general these provide a number of non-controversial minor improvements.
The issue you raise is related to these, I have left, or will leave, a message about your concerns on the WP:AWB pages.
Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 11:11 7 April 2008 (GMT).

To sign and date (instead of just signing) use:

  • {{subst:SBAWB|s=y}}
  • {{subst:SBAWB|y|s=y}}

  • FITNR= The issue you raise is related to these, and has been already fixed by the AWB developers, but not yet released to all AWB users.

Examples:

  • ==Maintenance templates and categories==

Hi, Just to let you know that most maintenance categories are put in articles by use of tags for example:

{{unref}} adds Category:Articles lacking sources (or one of its sub categories).

Also adding the category explicitly is counter productive, as it needs to be removed.

Regards, ~~~
  • ==Dated clean-up tags==

Hi, thanks for your message, Helpful Pixie Bot does not generally add these kind of tags, but merely dates those that are already there. If you believe the issues have subsequently been addressed, it is perfectly OK to remove them. Regards, ~~~

  • ==Merge templates==

The date syntax is: {{Merge|any other arguments|date={{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}}}, but if you leave the date off it will be added by a WP:BOT. ~~~
