Snyder-Benton in the Morning was an Educational television series that aired for one season through Washington County Closed-Circuit Educational Television Project for six months and is the last known educational program to have been produced through Washington County Public Schools. The series stars Tim Snyder and Adam Benton who provided students at E. Russell Hicks Middle School with programming which encouraged them through the COVID-19 pandemic. Episodes were typically under ten minutes, but featured a wide variety of interviews, parodies, comedy skits, mental support, and lessons on acceptance of all people.
Plot[edit]
In early episodes, Mr. Snyder and Mr. Benton take it amongst themselves to interview teachers and administrators regarding their classroom rules and approaches. The give and take style of each varied depending on the episode. In later episodes, Mr. Grove, played by Landon Grove, seeks to become a member of the show by performing guest performances and interviews when other performers could not be present. The series ultimately worked to create parody introductions to draw in a higher audience rate. Some more notable introductions mimed Golden Girls, The Office, and Little House on the Prairie.
Cancellation[edit]
Following the return to in person learning, the series was cancelled by the administrative staff at E. Russell Hicks. The time slot was filled by a lesser viewed spinoff program which starred two students at E. Russell Hicks. A new cast member, Mallory Donato, was added and Grove retained his role. Despite the shows short run, it was highly popular among its viewers. Snyder, in particular, was hailed for his efforts and for using his platform to draw attention to the Gay Straight Alliance. One final appearance of both Snyder and Benton was made follow their shows cancellation, however it is yet to be seen if they will be picked up for a second season.
Having produced over 100 episodes, the series qualifies for syndication.
