Callington is a small town in the Adelaide Hills, in South Australia. Callington is situated on the Bremer river, and is adjacent to the South Eastern Freeway. Callington is located within the state electoral district of Kavel and the federal division of Mayo

History

Callington was formed after the discovery of copper in the area in 1850. It was named after the copper mining town Callington in Cornwall, UK.

Callington has a local General Store that incorporates a Post Office, and Petrol Station.

There is one Pub in Callington called the Dog and Ute.

There is one active Church within the township plus a Lutheran church (Salem Church)

Callington Sports Oval

There are 2 sports ovals that are used for activities such as Australian Rules Football, Cricket and the Annual Callington Horticultural and Agricultural Show. They are located opposite the Callington Hall and include club rooms, playground, Tennis and Netball Courts, toilets and facilities.

Callington has a local newsletter that is produced about 3 times per year and distributed to residents.
