The other corps are 41 which is based in Port Perry, 1913 based in Oshawa and 2525 which is based in Pickering. The Cadet Program[edit]

The cadet program aims to teach those who take part in it a variety of different things. Some of the main aspects that are hoped to be taken away from being a part of the program are aspects such as "leadership, citizenship, self-reliance, physical fitness, resepct for others and a multitude of valuable life skills".[5] The program itself also breaks down into 5 levels that the cadets go through. These levels when in reference to the Army cadet program are called star levels,[6]

Green Star[edit]

The first level that the cadets go into is green star. This star level teaches the cadets the basics of all aspects of the program. This includes the basics of drill, marksmanship, survival and being a member of a group. The assessments for this level just require the cadets to be present and attend the required events that they have listed such as weekend activities and participating in the end of the year Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR).[6]

Red Star[edit]

The second level that cadets go into is red star. This star level is focused on developing the basics that they were taught in the previous level (Green Star). This level has a stronger emphasis on developing the cadets knowledge of information necessary for survival as well as beginning to prepare them for leadership opportunities.[6]

Silver Star[edit]

The third level that cadets go into is silver star. This star level starts to develop in depth the cadets sense of leadership. The cadets that are in this star level get to teach a lesson for the first time as a requirement for them to complete their star level. They also go on an expedition to gain first hand experience on outdoor leadership.[6]

Gold Star[edit]

The fourth level that the cadets go into is gold star. This star level encourages the cadets to focus on the development of their instructional and leadership skills. The cadets in this level also receive more in depth training on outdoor leadership and receive instruction on more developed drill movements. The cadets in this level also get taught more skills on instruction and are assessed on their ability to implement the skills that they have been taught.[6]

Master Cadet[edit]

The final level that the cadets go into is master cadet. This level works on perfecting the cadets instructional and leadership skills. Only those who have attained all the star levels are able to earn this level once they have completed all of the mandatory training.[6]
