Michael Charles Rockefeller (March 4, 1993) is an Israeli-American entrepreneur, philanthropist and business executive[1][2]. He is a sixth generation member of the Rockefeller family[3]. Rockefeller is known for co-founding and leading Rockefeller & Couts International as its Chief Executive Officer[2][1]. Also for many, Rockefeller is a sworn Environmentalist and a geopolitical science expert[4].

Early life and Education

[edit]

Rockefeller was born in Miami, Florida to a USN officer and his wife[1]. At the age of two, his family relocated to Tel Aviv, Israel, where he spent the biggest part of his early childhood[1]. Rockefeller much prepared and influenced by his grandfather drafted his first business plan at the age of 12[1]. At the age of 15 he moved with his family to the United States, where he developed an interest in modern entrepreneurship. Shortly after completion of his Economy and Political Science studies at the Columbia University of New York[5], Rockefeller founded his first company[1]. During his studies he maintained various positions within family entities[6]. In 2015 Rockefeller moved to London.

Business and Philanthropy

[edit]

In 2015 in cooperation with his business partner Daniel Couts[7], Rockefeller founded a construction company named Rockefeller & Couts London which was later superseded by Rockefeller & Couts International[1]. The company’s focus includes a wide range of construction types and real estate services[8][6]. Along with Couts, Rockefeller also went on to establish, pursue and promote other major philanthropic projects such as The Grand Restoration of Salamis[9][10], The Monegasque Association, and the Latvian Union[1]. In 2016 in an effort to promote the Hellenic cultural heritage and the Greek island of Salamina, Rockefeller initiated the idea of a multinational support committee which alongside Daniel Couts and Kyriakos Maridakis presented to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco who was offered an honorary membership[11][12]. In 2017 Rockefeller took part in the works for the establishment of the Hellenic-Israeli Union, a multinational organisation designed to increase and strengthen the cultural, economic, political, and diplomatic ties between the two allies, Israel and Greece[1]. In late 2018 Rockefeller was approached with the concept of a philanthropic TV program, called “Strictly Business” (2020)[6]. The creators worked on an idea where Michael Rockefeller and Daniel Couts travel the world to meet 10 of the most influential public figures in the world from different backgrounds on a one-to-one interview basis. During every exclusive interview Michael and Daniel would unveil each person’s key principals and business models that brought them to where they are today[6]. In 2019 Michael Rockefeller joined the Hellenic-American Union in Greece[13].

Environment

[edit]

Rockefeller is an active environmentalist[14]. He considers innovative and green start ups as the major drive towards significant improvement of our planet’s health[15][7]. In 2015 Rockefeller visited Baikal Lake in Russia and has often publicly supported its protection as one of the world’s natural treasures[16]. Plastic reduction is also a main focus[7][4]. Rockefeller admires and follows closely the movement of Greta Thunberg[6]. He promotes usage of green technology in the construction business, as an example he has stated that approximately 40% of the complexes built by Rockefeller & Couts International feature ecological roofs known as ‘’Green Roofs’’[7][6][15].

Interests and Hobbies

[edit]

Rockefeller has been long entrusted with financial and geopolitical analysis on international topics[17][5]. He is also a winemaker and maintains vineyards in Tuscany, Italy[18].
