Love At First Bite was the debut recording from the band Mother Mercy. Recorded by the band's second lineup consisting of RJ Blaze(vocals), Beau Dazzle(guitars), Randall Justice(bass) and Seann Scott(drums). It was released in a limited production on drummer Seann Scott's record company "SS Records" in 1997. Primarily sold by the band members themselves, the CD also received distribution from Perris Records, Tower Records, Amazon, and other online stores.

The band released two music videos to promote the CD. One for the title track - Love at First Bite, and one for the song Bad Boys In Black. The CD received generally positive reviews, and the band did several smaller southwest United States tours for promotion. Similar to the band's follow-up CD Dancing With The Devil the band received the majority of its interest from overseas[1] but the CD did get some airplay from local hard rock station KNAC, as well as internet based stations such as Hardradio.com.

Press-release copies of the CD allowed the band to get nominated for the "Best Glam Band" award two years[2][3] in a row(sponsored by Rock City News magazine), and win one in 1996[4] for the Southern California area.
