My Wikipedia editing interests are very narrow, focusing almost exclusively on colleges and universities and higher education associations, and their leaders. With 40 years in higher education, I have usually some connection with many of these, through personal contacts, accreditation visits or other passing interest. But sometimes I am just curious or at their page for some other reason.
My interests:
The introductory paragaphs of most university Wikipedia pages have been edited by so many people (or none) that they are often rambling with lots of unnecessary links to every day and year listed (and are redundant since they are already in the fact boxes!) I will sometimes add new content, but usually only when I have first hand information and am willing to bother to look up a source to cite.
Mostly, I just like to make them more readable and logical. Three wordy sentences can often be combined into one well written sentence with no loss of content. Like they say when you sign up -- if you don't want you work edited mercilessly, don't contribute here.
I sometimes remove red links that appear placed in error (e.g. all "notable" alumni or all former presidents have red links) and have been that way for some time. I understand that some uses like these links as a placeholder to demonstrate that they would like a Wikipedia page created and I apologize in advance I remove something that another editor wanted there. Please don't flame me, just restore it and accept my apology ofr an honest error, and that I did not think it likely to be revisited.
Please contact me on my talk page if you have any question or comment about my work, or if you have a page you would like me to look at or edit.
