Neil Richard Ormandy[edit]

Neil Richard Ormandy (born April 1st, 1981) is a British musician, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles.

Signed to a publishing deal with Ultra International Music Publishing[1] in 2014, Neil has scored a UK number one with “Say You Won’t Let Go”[2] for James Arthur[3], a number one single on the US Dance Charts with “Breathe”[4] for Eric Prydz[5] ft. Rob Swire[6] and has landed cuts with artists including Ben Henoaw, Kelly Clarkson[7], Hey Violet[8], Leroy Styles, Sander Kleinenberg[9], Jamie Cullum[10], Julian Perretta[11] and Barns Courtney[12] . Neil has toured with Keith Urban[13], Simply Red[14], James Morrison[15] and Paulo Nutini[16] with his band Rushmore and co-owns sync incubator SILO Music[17], most recently landing the official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story[18].

Early life[edit]

Born in Manchester, England in 1981, Neil’s father Alan Ormandy was a professional drummer and his mother Sally March was a singer and choreographer. He has five brothers, all of whom are involved in the music business in some capacity. At 16 Neil picked up his first guitar and has been writing songs ever since.

Career[edit]

2000-2008

Neil formed Rushmore, an indie country/pop band with his brother Ed Ormandy aged 18. They were quickly picked up and signed to a publishing deal with EMI[19] by legendary A&R man Kenny McGoff[20] in 2000. In 2001 the band went on to sign their first record deal with Steve Lau’s Kinetic Records[21] in New York.

In 2005, Paul Adam at Island Records[22] signed Rushmore to a development deal, which led to Rushmore signing a record deal with  Mercury Records[23] in 2006, and toured with a wide range of internationally-recognized artists  Keith Urban[24], Simply Red[25], James Morrison[26] and Paolo Nutini[27].

2008-2014

During his time at Mercury Records, Neil began actively writing with other artists and developing his songwriting skills. He moved to LA in 2009, signing writer-producer deals with Pusher[28], District Music, Archangel and HTGR[29], where he began writing music for TV, film and advertising campaigns.

Neil quickly gained a name for himself in the sync world, securing 100+ placements in TV, film and multiple major motion picture trailers. On the back of this success and as a creative outlet for his prolific songwriting, he launched in-demand boutique sync agency SILO Music LLC[30] in partnership with his brother Jack Ormandy in early 2014. By 2014, Neil’s songwriting had once again caught the attention of Kenny McGoff who flew out to LA to meet Neil and introduced him to Patrick Moxey, of Ultra Music Publishing[31].

2014-present

In July 2014, Neil signed a publishing deal with Ultra and since then, has rapidly built his songwriting profile, landing cuts with James Arthur’s[32] UK number one (“Say You Won’t Let Go”)[33],  Leroy Styles (“Can’t Let Go”), Ben Haenow & Kelly Clarkson (“Second Hand Heart”)[34], Julian Perretta[35] (“Rich Kid”), Barns Courtney (“Hands”), Miss Montreal (“Say What You See”)[36], and Sander Kleinenberg (“Closer”)[37] to name just a few.

He contributed two songs to Eric Prydz’s[38] 2016 number one album “Opus”[39] (“Breathe”; “Moody Mondays”[40] and the lead title track to Hey Violet’s debut EP “I Can Feel It”[41] which took the EP to number one spot in eight different countries.

SILO Music LLC[edit]

Neil set up boutique sync agency SILO in 2014. Working with music supervisors in the US, SILO develops artists and writers via music placements in the sync space and has rapidly gained a reputation as a key player in the industry.

Running point on all creative aspects of SILO, Neil has landed over 100 high profile sync placements for TV shows including CSI;[42] CSI:NY[43]; ARROW[44]; Gotham[45]; Silicon Valley[46]; Nikita[47] Teen Wolf[48] and major motion picture trailer cues for Clash of the Titans[49]; Green Lantern[50]; Knight and Day; Dead Man Down; The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo[51]; Selma[52]; The Avengers[53] and most recently, the official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story[54].
